🌱✨🌞 Chase Horst explores bold color, animated styles, and art driven by curiosity and feeling. 🌱✨🌞 My name is Chase, and I’m a multidisciplinary artist from Shreveport LA. I work mainly with digital, acrylic, and marker mediums, with some time to practice with oil painting, if I can be patient enough to let them dry. I started out with a love for realism, gray scale, and portraits; now I’m finding myself infatuated with animated styles, bold neon colors, and metallics. My pieces often involve quite a bit of introspective thinking from start to finish, with my imagination being the biggest reference for object placements and color schemes. I love creating discovering my potential, figuring out new ways to do something, seeing what I can come up with, skills I should work on. Things never done before, things that make people feel something, things that may only speak to one person, even things I’ll throw away. She does whatever she can to highlight that from tattooing, drawing, painting, to digital art - mainly visual forms of art. Recently she has been cultivating her tattoo practice at Gallery Ink Tattoo Studios in Bossier, Louisiana. ✨🌸🌱 Let’s welcome Xay Stover!! This will be her very first art exhibit! I am very honoured to be their first. Let’s make sure it’s one Xay will never forget! ✨🌸🌱 My tattoo practice emerged from a period of personal and professional transition. In 2020, after being laid off from my 9-to-5 job, I committed fully to tattooing—an art form I had been independently practicing since the age of eighteen. What began as self-directed experimentation on synthetic skin evolved into a disciplined, professional practice rooted in technical precision, adaptability, and creative autonomy. While my primary tattoo style is neo-traditional, my work moves fluidly across stylistic boundaries. Central to my visual language is a strong influence from Art Nouveau, particularly the work of Alphonse Mucha. I was introduced to Mucha’s work during my freshman year of high school, and his ornamental compositions, flowing linework, and ethereal figures continue to inform my approach. These influences surface through decorative structure, soft movement, and an emphasis on elegance and atmosphere. Neo-traditional tattooing offers a contemporary framework through which I reinterpret the expressive qualities of Art Nouveau within a modern context. Beyond tattooing, my studio-based artwork prioritizes color, rhythm, and emotional resonance over strict realism. I gravitate toward palettes that feel organic and evocative, allowing color to guide mood and narrative. Across mediums, my work explores balance—between structure and softness, boldness and delicacy, tradition and personal reinterpretation. I have lived in Shreveport, Louisiana since the age of nine, following what was initially a temporary visit that became a permanent relocation. Approaching twenty years in the city, I consider Shreveport an integral part of my artistic foundation. ✨🌸🌱 Hillary is currently in college to receive their MFA at SAIC. While currently in the master program, shes also is an active full-time artist ✨🌸🌱 Hillary Frazier (Fkafrazierart) specializes in illustration and bouts of work-induced insomnia. Influences include artists such as Alphonse Mucha, Fiona Staples, Nuri Durr, and Jamie Hewlett. Brittney has their ear to the ground when it comes to the art community in the SBC, and I thank you for that! 🦋🌱✨ The first step as an artist is to create my work is imagining vivid other worlds. My heart and soul are in these vast alternate planes. I cherish bringing them to light for others to enjoy.🦋🌱✨ Brittney Hazelton (Sysica) is a self-taught fantasy surrealist mixed-media artist and an art journalist from Shreveport, Louisiana, currently residing in the Keithville area. Art has been a passion of theirs since a very young age. As a child, they would lose themselves imagining another world, creating characters, entire races, planets, cultures, and stories to escape the reality of their life at the time. That universe has been titled Passing of Time, which is still being crafted to this day by Brittney Hazelton and her husband, Ryan Hazelton. In 2015, Hazelton (Sysica) began participating in the local art community have participated with both SRAC, Bossier Arts Council, The Agora Borealis, joined the art group Lab Rat Arts, and even helped form a nonprofit, NWLA Makerspace, as its Vice Chair. They have been a part of many multi-artist exhibitions in both Shreveport and Bossier City, and have had their own exhibition called « The Art of Sysica » at Sleepy Hollow in 2016. In 2022, Hazelton joined the staff at KSLA News 12 as a digital content producer, covering all kinds of news but taking a special focus on art culture in the ArkLaTex. Due to their knowledge of the area’s art culture, they were given a special digital segment called ArkLaTex Artistry, where they conducted in-depth mini documentary-style interviews with artists and weekly podcast-like interviews. She debuted her first solo gallery show in June 2025 at Bossier Arts Council. Her work explores themes of self-expression and connection, drawing inspiration from magical worlds such as Winx Club and anime. 🌱🌞🌿 Our first artist feature for the Ink + Marker Exhibit is studioKMAK aka Khalilah Kersey!🌱🌞🌿 I am a serial hobbyist from southern Louisiana living in northern Louisiana. I enjoy writing, reading, sewing, crocheting, designing, eating, watching K-dramas, and napping. I’ve been heavily influenced and transformed by life in the Deep South. I’ve had the privilege of meeting people from all over the world and have learned that you don’t need to travel far to learn how to have compassion for people. Empathy is a choice.I like tea parties. I am bad at keeping plants alive. I consider myself more of a creative than an artist, but it probably doesn’t really matter. As a business studioKMAK is a multidisciplinary brand and online art store. My goal is to encourage connection between people through intentionality, honesty, and empathy. I want to make work that calms the viewer down. That invites them over for coffee (or tea) and asks them to rest for a while. I want to make work that actively listens and responds with compassion and wisdom. studioKMAK exists to remind us of our place in the natural world. To remind us that it’s possible to coexist without domination, but instead with appreciation and respect for all things. Growing up surrounded by artwork, she always pushed herself to be a good artist. From a young age, Bess discovered her love for glass. Everyday glass items sparked her curiosity and pushed her to dig more into how glass was made. It quickly because her whole world, collecting glass and doing class projects on it. She was hooked. At 15 years old she was able to take her first glass class. A simple paperweight class, but that made her ambitions grow. She took as many classes as she could find. Once she hit 20 years old, she started to take classes and volunteer at Sanctuary Glass Studio. She has now worked there for close to three years. Professionally they are a costume designer who has worked in the independent film scene for roughly 8 years as well as the musical theater scene for the past 2. When it comes to their life as an artist, their work is deeply connected with identity and story telling. Medium matters very little to them in the face of that, and they explore themselves and others through numerous techniques; whichever ones fit the best for the project. They are also a self-taught crochet and knit artist, so you may find them vending at a few local events selling hats and other handmade goods. ☢️🧬🦠Let’s Get Schwifty👽☢️🧪 Lets welcome Diego Carrizales 🧬 ☢️🧬 Also congratulations on rappelling down the 15-story Fairmont Apartments in downtown Shreveport as part of the Over the Edge fundraiser! Diego Carrizales blends creativity, technical skill, and a deep sense of service. With a foundation in design and engineering, he approaches his work with both structure and imagination, bridging the precision of drafting with the freedom of artistic expression. His professional experience spans architectural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines, as well as graphic design in digital, web, and user interface projects. Yet, his truest expression shines through traditional mediums. From an early age, drawing has been Diego’s constant companion. He is drawn to the fine details of pencil and pen-and-ink work, hatching, tiny doodles, and intricate linework. In recent years, his style has expanded, embracing scale, color, and fast, expressive strokes that bring new energy to his pieces. His creativity also extends to model kits, where he uses airbrushing techniques to craft layered, original finishes. Now, after time away from exhibitions, Diego returns with new work rooted in patience, detail, and a lifelong devotion to art. His Native Mexica heritage flows through his practice, inspired by the artists of his culture and surroundings that continue to shape his vision.

Chase Horst is a multidisciplinary artist and flow artist from Shreveport, Louisiana. Starting at an extremely young age, notebook after notebook was filled with drawings and original characters. Now, he works towards expanding this creativity into a career; whether that be tattooing, digital art, physical art, or all of the above. He is always striving to grow and learn with every piece he creates.
